President Asif Ali Zardari has stressed for joint efforts and increased cooperation among Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran for combating the challenges


Addressing the trilateral summit on regional security and Afghanistan situation in Tehran, President Asif Ali Zardari said, we have to get together to tackle the challenges. It is not just a matter of our survival, but it is necessary for the betterment and safety of our future generations. The President said Pakistan , Iran and Afghanistan , which are geologically neighbours and share common culture, history and traditions can tackle every challenge by getting together and achieve development progress. The President also proposed to have a trilateral mechanism on the dialogue on development, to realize the true potential of trade and economic cooperation among the three important countries of the region. President Asif Ali Zardari also suggested to host the next summit in Islamabad , which was accepted by the afghan side as well as the host country. The dates for the next summit in Islamabad will be finalized through mutual consultation. President Asif Ali Zardari invited Iranian President Mehmoud Ahmedinejad and Afghan President Hamid Karzai to visit Pakistan. In his address, Iranian President Ahmedinejad said Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan had common culture and history and therefore they need to focus on mutual cooperation in any future planning. He stressed on the need for a common strategy to overcome the challenges faced by the countries in the fields of economy, development and education. Ahmadinejad also lashed out at outside powers for endangering the security in the region, saying foreign forces have not helped strengthen regional security. Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, in his address, stressed on the need to further strengthen mutual cooperation among the three countries. He said our three countries can achieve new milestones of economic progress by employing their resources.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Iranian Foreign Minister Manoucher Mottaki and Afghan Foreign Minister Rageen Daadfar also addressed the conference.
